Mark Zachry is Professor of Human Centered Design & Engineering at the University of Washington where he directs the Communicative Practices in Virtual Workspaces laboratory. His work has appeared in numerous collections and such publications as the Journal of Business and Technical Communication and Technical Communication Quarterly. He is co-editor of the 2007 award-winning collection, Communicative Practices in Workplaces and the Professions: Cultural Perspectives on the Regulation of Discourse and Organizations. His research areas include intelligent interfaces to support virtual interactions and social behavior in computational systems.
Professor Zachry’s current project areas include a multi-year study of networked knowledge workers on the web, systems for enabling social translucence in social media, and the development of new forms of economic exchange in virtual spaces.
